On the 31st of December, 2023, I don’t know who sent me work, but I decided to move away from my normal cruise post and posted some serious things on my WhatsApp status.
In case you missed it, I will reproduce exactly what I posted below, and then complete it.
“
Firstly, a disclaimer: everything I’m typing here tonight is either from my experience or what I’ve seen over time. It’s up to you to peruse the information if it aligns with you👍
Everyone is saying the country is hard but it seems some sets of people are having it easy, especially young people (I’m still wondering what they are doing too👍). When I say young people, I’m not talking about the fraudsters.
So what are these people doing differently?
The truth is, you probably know it and you don’t believe or you know it, you believe it, but it just seems like they are doing something differently.
The most common one everyone know is tech the new oil money as some people will call it.
But shey na tech everybody dey do ni?
What of people who are not techy, how are they doing it?
This is where Layi’s quote will come in pe: “Info leyan fin fo”😂
The truth is, in this internet age abi digital age, you don’t need to code before you can make a living legitimately. There are lots of other things you can explore.
Permit me to say this, if you are part of the people who believe course creators make most of their money from selling their courses, then you are joking 👍
If he’s making millions from the business he wants to teach us, why then is he asking us for money? 🤡
“He should just teach us for free na”. Look, if he doesn’t teach you, he will still continue making his money 👍
I’m team “pay for knowledge to get to your destination faster”
Enough of this beating around the bush😂. Here are some ways to make money legitimately without bringing 2 people to bring 2 people ( you will still do it 😂)
I will be mentioning just a few I feel are easy to start or low cost, then how you can get started. (I don’t have any course to sell you, so don’t be afraid 👍)
- Selling softwares ( you don’t have to be a techy to do this👍)
- Affiliating for softwares
- E-commerce
- Copywriting, Video editing, and maybe content writing
Let’s get into the details of each
- Software selling.
I think last year or so, I got a course on “how to sell softwares without being a developer”, however, I didn’t go into it because I had lots on my hand. But I will talk about it here because it’s a model that works.
What’s software selling? In simple terms, selling softwares😂😂
All you have to do is:
Find an existing software with potentials, buy the resale right, identify your audience, and sell the hell out of it.
Sounds simple ba? It isn’t. For every business model I’m mentioning here, the first thing you need is the knowledge on how to go about it.
I will leave you to do the research yourself but you can ask me questions 👍
There are platforms like Jvzoo, warriorplus where you can find softwares to buy.
But before you buy any software, you need to be sure it’s something people want to buy.
Leaving it here: if you are software developer and you’d like to partner with me to build and sell a software, kindly reach out.
Once you have found a software, the next thing is to buy the resale right.
The good and amazing about this is that you only have to do the work once and keep reaping from it continuously. How?
The next phase is to build a marketing channel for the software. In a little professional term, a sales funnel. It’s this funnel you are going to use to sell the software.
I can’t explain a sales funnel fully here but it’s like the journey your customer will go through to buy from you.
Something like: Advert => Sales page ==> checkout. It’s an automated process. You build your funnel, set up your ads, and send people to your funnel to buy from you.
When your funnel is well set, and the right audience goes through it, you get paid.
You can purchase a software with its full resale right for say $100 (that’s like 100k) it can be higher depending on the software.
But if you did your homework really well, you will make all your money back with the first 10 sales you make. You can get more information about this on Google, and you can also buy a course to fast track your journey.
You can also ask me questions if it’s something you are interested in, and I will try my best to answer.
Moving on to the second one:
- Affiliating for softwares. This is easier to start than the first because you mostly don’t need capital like that. Best part about this one is the recurring income it has🤭. As long as the person keeps renewing, you keep getting paid.
Unlike the traditional affiliate marketing you know where people sell courses to you,
Software affiliate marketing is a little different because, instead of selling courses, you are recommending helpful softwares to people that need it. And when they purchase through you, you get paid.
An example. Let’s say Mtn is a software company, and they pay anyone who refers customers to them. All you have to do is to find people who need sims, convince them that mtn is the best, and…
when they buy the sim, mtn pay you a part of the money for the purchase.
You get the concept? But this time, some softwares require renewal every year, and this means as long as the person is using the software, and keeps renewing, the company will keep paying you.
If you are a web developer and you host websites for your clients but you are not making money from affiliating for the hosting company, then you are losing money you could have made.
An example is namecheap.com . I told my friends already, if you ever want to buy a website domain name and hosting on namecheap, they should come and ask for my link. For everyone who buys a domain and hosting through my link, namecheap pays me a certain amount
I’m not actively involved in this too, but the little bucks that come from affiliating for these softwares can go a long way for me when I need money sometimes. I will just login to my dashboard and see that someone used my link😂
There are different softwares you can affiliate for depending on the kind of audience you have. There is a software built by a Nigerian called snipercrm… it’s for people who do e-commerce.
When someone signs up with your link, you get 10-30% of the money.
The biggest plan on this software is 100k. 30% of it is 30k on a yearly basis 🤭 as long as the person you referred keeps renewing every year, you get your 30k.
If you can get people to signup a month. That’s soft 300k for you every year👍 rinse and repeat
To understand better, just search for CPL or CPA.
Of course, there are some you can’t affiliate for as a Muslim, just know the one Islam permits and leave the one that’s haram🤝🏾
”
I stopped there on my status. So I will continue from the next line.
The next model we have is:
E-commerce. It basically means buying and selling online. But I’m not talking about the Arike’s collection and Alamu’s closet type of selling😂, this one is far, far more advanced and lucrative.
The beauty of this one is the unlimited potential it has. With e-commerce, you can kiss poverty good bye. ( please send me money make I chop o🤲🏽)
How does it work?
In E-commerce, you don’t just sell anything that you see because every other person sells it, instead, you find an existing problem that has good market potential and find a product that solves that problem.
They call this kind of product “a hot product “
The process goes in this way
- Find a pressing problem with an existing market
- Find a solution to the problem (the product)
- Build a marketing funnel to sell the product
- Launch
- Deliver and get paid
- Rinse and Repeat.
How do you find a pressing problem people will be willing to pay any amount for?
This is where research comes in. You have to do a comprehensive and deep research to find out what problem(s) people are facing, and then find a solution to it.
Sometimes, recognizing a problem can be easy, but the main work lies in the product research for that problem. (This is the trenches of ecom😂)
But one thing about ecom is that… you are one product away from your first million 🤭( I’ve not made my own first 100k yet🥺, na only write I dey write here o😭😂)
Moving on, let’s assume you have finally found a product that solves the pressing problem, the next thing is to actually get the product.
This brings us to the “product sourcing stage.” You know the funny thing about ecom?😂
Products some people sell for 5k,7k is the same product some people are selling for 20k because they have better knowledge of marketing/selling.
There are two ways to source for products.
- Local sourcing
- Importation
Local sourcing basically involves checking for suppliers of your product in Nigeria. However, there is a downside to this.
One way to cash in big in e-commerce is to have a product where you have monopoly in selling. Monopoly in the sense that…
You have no competitors and you have no worries about someone bastardizing the price.
When your product is readily available with suppliers in Nigeria, it means there’s a high chance plenty people will be selling with you, and this will lead to competition.
For beginners who don’t have plenty money to import, sourcing locally is advised, but if you have money, the best is to find a product that’s not in Nigeria yet and import to sell the hell out of it.
And this brings us to the second method of product sourcing which is:
Importation. I believe I don’t need to explain this. But you basically check for products on Aliexpress, 1688, alibaba and other platforms, and then import it.
Importation is sweet because you can buy products for dirt cheap prices and sell them at a higher price in Nigeria.
You can buy a product with shipping and clearing for 1600 and sell for 16,000 or more sef depending on the problem it solves and the perceived value the product has.
Before you come for my head that “doesn’t this mean you are cheating people by selling for that high?”
It’s not cheating in anyway because that 16k you see involves you running ads, paying staff salaries, deliveries, waybill and many more. Unless you are in business to do charity loku 😂Father Christmas 👍
The best product to sell is a product that is not taja teran that wants it (Yoruba😂) I mean a product that not everyone wants it… to put it in simple terms, product that only rich people want.
You don’t want to sell to broke people 😂👍(Justice for broke people 😂)
My explanation is really getting long. But anyways, once you find a product, you test it to see if the market wants it.
A product can be amazing to you, and people won’t buy it because they don’t find it amazing.
So testing if the market wants the product before buying or importing is super super super important. Else😂 you go use your product do giveaway in the end😂
Now that you have tested your product and people want it, what next?
Build a full blow marketing funnel just like the software selling and sell the hell out of it.
How do you deliver your product?
Simple, but shege can be plenty sometimes 😂
There are delivery agents across states, and you can send your products to them.
When your advert brings in orders in the particular state your product is, you send the order to the agent, they deliver and collect your money for you, then remit the balance after they have removed their delivery fee.
But is that not risky? What if the agent runs away with your money?
Well, it happens, but it’s not everytime. Before you use any agent, you need to do your due diligence to find out from people who have used the company before.
If you will start e-commerce, I’d advice you have like N100k upwards because you will have to purchase website, run ads, buy products, etc.
You can also start with like 30-50k too sha but… let me leave it like that😂
I’ve written a lot on e-commerce alone already, and I will be stopping here.
Once again, Google is your friend and you can learn more by searching. You can ask me too👍
But as I mentioned before, before you can run any of the models I’ve talked about, you need to have a knowledge of how to effectively go about it, and the fastest and best way is to get someone to teach you, or buy a course on it, or do the tough work…. Go on YouTube, Google and other platforms and learn from free contents.
I can also recommend courses for you to purchase 🤭
P.S. I get commission when you buy through me😂 (you can as well call me affiliate marketer 🤣🤣)
The last thing we have here is:
- Copywriting, Video Editing, and Content Writing: I’m putting these three together intentionally because they all have something in common, they are all digital skills. (The ones I’ve mentioned above before at one point or the other requires you apply some skills too sha)
Copywriting basically means selling with written words, and a copywriter is one who writes copy. It can be for himself or client. Copywriting is a very lucrative skill one can learn. If you master it pere? You are on your way to crazy financial freedom.
I have friends that make $2000 upwards a month from writing copy for their clients.
The beautiful thing about all these? They do it at their own comfort. Remote and few hours a day.
Why are copywriters paid that much a month just to write copy?
The thing is… if you are so good with copywriting, you will be highly sought after( if you position yourself well sha)
A copywriter helps businesses make money.
A good copywriter can literally take a brand making $5k a month to making $50k a month with his copy.
If I can take you from $5k a month to $50k a month. What’s $5k that you can’t pay for my service?
But before you can get to that level, you need to be good.
How can you become a copywriter?
Once again, Google is your friend 😂👍 and you can ask me questions sha👍
Content writing is different from copywriting because it’s not selling with written words like copywriting.
Content writing is more of “writing to inform”, while copywriting is “writing to sell”
A copywriter is a content writer, but a content writer isn’t a copywriter 👍
Content writers are also paid good money per month too.
But I don’t have full details on that.
The last one is video editing. Businesses are actively looking for good video editors. If you are very good with video editing and you are not getting worthwhile clients, then you are the one doing yourself.
How do copywriters, content writers, and video editors get clients?
You will notice that I didn’t use Naira when I got here ba?
That’s because… if you really want to make good money from these skills, it’s best you work for foreign clients.
Those people pay good money🤭
So how do you get clients?
- Cold emailing: identifying people who need your services and pitching them.
- Freelance platforms: going to platforms like upwork, fiverr, etc where jobs are posted to apply.
- Other methods
This will be the end of the long exposition.
I normally wouldn’t have done this, but decided to write it because I still see that lots of people are ignorant and don’t know how to utilize the internet in this age.
If you have questions about any of the things I talked about, feel free to ask.
Peace out ✌️
